10 Steps to plan a stag or hen do

If you've been asked to plan a hen or stag do, there will be a lot of expectation and responsibility resting on your shoulders. Here is a 10 point plan to finding the right venue.

1. Talk to the guest of honour and find out what type of party they want. If they want something low-key, make sure you provide that for them. Likewise, if they want big and memorable, that's what you should do.

2. You also need to ask them who they want to invite for the party. They may want a big turn-out or just a small group of close friends. They may even want parents and other relatives.

3. Talk to other close friends of the hen or stag and discuss ideas. Two heads are better than one when it comes to generating ideas, plus it will help to share some of the responsibility.

4. Decide on a rough outline for how you expect the hen or stag do to play out. Do you want a daytime event, followed by bars in your local city? Are you heading further afield, perhaps visiting bars in London or Liverpool?

8. If you're eating, you need to call the venues and find out what food they do and whether they can accommodate you on the date you intend to go.

9. Find out the cost-per-head for the entire day and notify the guest list. Remember to include transport costs, if applicable, and try and get confirmation of who will be coming.

10. Once you know who will be coming, secure any bookings for the bar, restaurant or daytime event that you need to and notify the invite list of the plan.
